Things to do

The Irish Tourist Board invites you to choose from 14,000 activities and things to do around Ireland.  While we list the various categories for your interest, we doubt if you will have time to fit them all in!  (We are not so sure either about the need for 'Learning English'!!)

Golf, Angling, Walking, Equestrian, Heritage, Learning English, Festivals, Film, Cultural Courses, Horse Caravan Holidays, Literature, General

Golf

Southwest of Ireland Golf comes first on the list and we believe it will be the No1 choice of many of our guests. Catherine's friend and colleague, Keith Henthorn, (no mean golfer, we understand!), has volunteered to  help  with any arrangements / playing partners / ideas / questions etc.
Tip from Keith: Golf in the area is world class with Ballybunion and Lahinch not far away.
One tip is to pay for a caddie.
A caddie is not expensive and not only will he save you a lot of balls/strokes but the crack and banter for the fours hours will make him a friend for life.

Lahinch Golf Club: Two 18 hole courses 'Old' & 'Castle'. Lahinch, Co. Clare, 35 miles.  Preferred Green Fees available to  guests of Fitzpatrick, Bunratty.

The Dromoland Golf and Country Club offers unparalleled opportunities to enjoy the pleasures of a more relaxed and healthy lifestyle. Over the past 30 years, Dromoland Estate has developed a reputation as one of the finest golfing venues in the West of Ireland.

Today, the 18-hole golf course offers surprising challenges to amateur and professional golfers alike. The Club House provides private changing rooms, computerized exercise equipment, sauna and steam-bath facilities.

The 18 hole parkland course will provide a new dimension to your game. Set against the backdrop of 16th century Dromoland Castle and located within 360 acres of the Castle estate, you will encounter rolling hills, centuries-old trees and water hazards that will test your skills. These elements combine to make this superbly maintained golf course one of the most challenging in Ireland. In existence since 1961, it is a par 71 course and was designed by the renowned golf architect Mr. Brook L. Wigginton of the USA.
